The Ben Nevis 17 Year 1996 from The Exclusive Malts

Ben-Nevis-17-Year-1996-from-The-Exclusive-MaltsTasting notes:
Ooh, this noses with wonderment.  There’s blue steel and the thick haze of flower bouquets crowded into a small room.  And yet there’s also room for a paste made from bananas one day before full ripeness; braided fern leaves; and handfuls of caramel cream candies.

The mouth continues the delights with missing a beat.  In two words, it’s super creamy.  In fact, in one word, it’s lascivious.  Let’s call this the Jessica Rabbit of whisky mouths: drawn that way.  How is that, you ask?  Think very sherry with nary a cherry and you’ll know what I mean.

The finish reverberates like a subsonic elephant call.  With magical earphones on, the call is not only audible, it’s in English, and it urges me, repeatedly, to enjoy this whisky.  Oh, you better believe I will, my whisky enthusiast elephant friend.  You better believe I will.

Rating:

On the scale of modes of elephant communication–
The Ben Nevis 17 Year 1996 is musth-walk–More distinctive than the head-toss, but not as demure as an ear-wave, the musth-walk is the main way to say that the male elephant means business.
