The Lagavulin 12 Year 2014 Limited Edition

50 ml less-than-51-ml mini

Lagavulin-12-Year-2014-Limited-EditionTasting notes:
The Lagavulin 12 Diageo 2014 Limited Edition smells like Victory. It also smells a lot like a young, sassy Lagavulin 16; a sharp, fiery, rabid hydrophobic dragon.

It tastes a lot like an older, wiser, learned-from-its-mistakes Lagavulin 8. A black cat smoking a candy cane cheroot St. Nick inadvertently rubbed against the sooty chimney on his way down with the presents.

[John: There’s not a Lagavulin 8, is there?]

[Stephen: Do you really need to ask?]

[John: But there’s a St. Nick, right? Right?!]

[Stephen: Yes, John. There is a St. Nick.]

The finish is a lot like the I’m-much-improved-over-the-2010-special-release-‘cuz-I’m-the-2013-special-release-Lagavulin-12.

Rating:

On the scale of soccer players I wish were real–
The Lagavulin 12 Year 2014 Limited Edition is
Pete Acropolis, star teammate of Lionel Messi–His nickname is ‘Acropolis Now!’ and fans shout it when they want him (or the Lagavulin 12) to enter the game. Acropolis Now!

  1. I just wanted to say thank-you for all of the wonderfully entertaining reviews! I’ve been a writer for many years, and have about 14 treasured years of whiskey appreciation experience…I must say, you have converged two topics I love, in a terrifying– yet brilliantly attractive fashion!

    All the best,
    -Aaron, from Bend, Oregon.

Your review of the Stitchell Reserve 2013 was sublime…”a wet meerkat” ROTFL, I can’t drink it now without thinking about it!!

    • Thanks for the kind words, Aaron. We certainly aim to entertain, and it’s nice to hear we succeed (at least some of the time)!
